Aaron Marcus Blair was born on June 24, 1980, in Dothan, Alabama, to Susan Blair and Marcus Blair.
Aaron was a proud girl dad to Aadan Virginia Blair (17) and Elliot Kelly Blair (14). They were his whole world. He also embraced Isla Grace Egersett (18) and Estelle Louise Egersett (15) as his own. He loved spending time with his girls, whether at recitals and performances, playing video games, or diving into whatever new interests they were exploring, always encouraging them to “choose your own adventure.” Time with his girls was what he looked forward to most.
He and the love of his life, Jaenae Egersett, shared a partnership that flourished with laughter, support, connection, and care. They brought an unmatched spirit that complemented and completed each other. Aaron and Jaenae wholly embraced each other’s worlds, daughters, families, and friends, and so naturally became a unit. Aaron was so proud of their shared life together.
Aaron’s family was foundational to who he was. His adoring mother, Susie Blair, provided constant love and support throughout his life. He learned so much from his father, Marc, whose influence helped shape the man he became. Growing up, the family moved often, an experience that only strengthened his bond with his siblings. Aaron, Ryan, and Kelly, close in age, shared a deep connection and are the keepers of some of the very best Aaron stories, filled with mischief, laughter, and love.
That same energy and presence extended far beyond, leaving a lasting mark on his extended family. He built especially meaningful relationships with his nieces and nephews, who each carry their own collection of Aaron stories, ones that will be told, laughed about, and cherished for years to come.
Aaron had a big heart and truly loved love. He had a contagious zest for life and never met a stranger. He was the kind of person you remembered long after meeting him, the bright, magnetic presence at any gathering. Many described him as the nucleus of a room, effortlessly bringing people together. He was spontaneous, determined, and selfless, always ready to help anyone in need, and sometimes even followed through. He was also completely, unapologetically himself, a little random, incredibly funny, and endlessly memorable.
Creativity came naturally to Aaron. He loved working with epoxy, concrete, heat press designs, and painting, always experimenting and making something new. He had an eye for thrift store treasures and found joy in curating his own wardrobe, as well as picking out the perfect, unexpected gift for others.
Aaron lived life with energy and fearlessness. He was an avid snowboarder, whether on mountains, rocks, or the occasional roof, loved soccer, ran marathons, and spent time skateboarding. He was also known to bust out his breakdancing moves without warning, sometimes right in the middle of a mall.
He had a deep love for dogs, especially English sheepdogs. He brought Walter home as a puppy to grow up alongside Aadan, and later welcomed Brian, who became not only a beloved companion but also joined Aaron in bringing comfort to others during his work.
Aaron proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 2003 to 2011. He was a non-commissioned officer, serving in the 129th TC (Combat HET) as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and wrecker operator. During his service, he completed a combat tour in Iraq (2008–2009) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he led and supported his fellow soldiers through humor and an unbreakable spirit. For his exceptional and meritorious service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
During and after his service, Aaron formed lifelong bonds with the men he served alongside, his “band of brothers,” who remained a vital and cherished part of his life.
Following his service, Aaron faced the challenges of PTSD and TBI, and those experiences inspired his passion for helping others. Through his work with the Valor program, he played a hands-on role in connecting hundreds of firefighters, police officers, emergency responders, and veterans with critical resources and support. He continued this mission through his work with Warrior Service Company, helping veterans access home health services through the VA and ensuring they received the care they deserved.
Aaron leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his daughters, Aadan and Elliot Blair; his beloved sheepdog, Brian; the love of his life, Jaenae Egersett, and her daughters, Isla and Estelle; his mother, Susie Blair; his father, Marc Blair, and Marc’s wife, Susan Parsons Blair; his sister, Kelly Blair Kariker (Billy), and her children, Cooper (Darrian), Chase, and Addison; his brother, Ryan Blair, and Ryan’s wife, Naomi; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who became family.
A funeral service will be held at Hope Community Church, 8200 State Line Rd., Leawood, KS 66206. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM, followed by the service at 5:00 PM.
