Albert Joseph Godinez

With saddened hearts, Albert J. Godinez, 78 years old, passed peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Kansas City, MO, surrounded by his loved ones.

Albert was born on April 28, 1947, to his parents, Candido and Rosa Godinez, who preceded him in death, in Chanute, KS. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1965. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years for our country. He later retired from Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO.

His journey on this earth was guided by love, compassion, and his faith in God. Al had many friends and never met a stranger. He loved to tell his stories and share advice on life skills. He loved his Chiefs, music of any genre, and especially enjoyed listening to live bands with his brother Sam. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Judi;his sister, Rosie (Lupe) Trujillo;his brother, Sam Godinez;his sisters, Pauline Martinez and Alicia Villalobos;He was preceded in death by his brother Steve.

Children: preceded in death by daughter Teresa Godinez; surviving children Joe Godinez Jr. (Maria), Joanne Castilleja (Tony), Christina Garcia (Danny), Dione Allen, and Angela Wheeler (Myles).

Grandchildren: Samantha Godinez, Aaron Godinez, Trevor Godinez, Ashley Hernandez; preceded in death by Anthony Hernandez; Alexia Hernandez, Daniel Garcia, Mia Garcia, Michael Garcia, Elizabeth Smith (Drew), Dylan Wheeler (Ana), Meri Wheeler, Hunter Allen, and Kadin Allen.

He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
