Alyce Jean James (Picard)

Alyce Jean James (Picard), 72, of Independence, Missouri, gained her wings on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Jean Picard of Raytown, Missouri.

Alyce was born on September 30, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated from Raytown High School, Class of 1971, and went on to earn multiple college degrees. Her passion was wedding and event coordination, helping others, and most of all, loving her family.

She will be truly missed by her children: Bobbi Payne (Mark), Tiffany Wright, Brian Grear (Michael), and stepson Tahj Johnson. She is preceded in death by two sons, Christopher and Jeffery.

Alyce is survived by two brothers, Craig and J.D. Picard, and a sister, Donna Picard. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Mariah Payne (David), Diamond Payne aka "Pookie Mama" (Kameron), Mariah Ramsey, Alexandria Grear, Christine Osborne, Kevi Waters, and Jonette Hurt. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Michael Francis Sapp, Davo Speer, Emmy Jo Ramsey, and C.J. Sapp.

She leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews: Cammie Picard, James Picard (Carla), Kara Keck, Lyndsey Picard, Michaela Powell, Bobby Powell, Jennifer Starcher, and Gina Starcher, along with 11 great-nieces and nephews.

Alyce was a bonus mom to Lola Rummerfield, Ralph, and Patty Markham. Her best friends and chosen family of over 50 years include Lucian Ray Enochs Jr., Joyce Enochs, and Rose Burke.

She was adored by so many, known for her big heart, beautiful soul, and the endless love she gave to everyone around her. She was a true blessing to all who knew her and will never be forgotten.
