Annie Louise Brown

Annie Louise Brown (Annie L. Brown):

Annie Louise Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the age of 99 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on November 2,
1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to Blanche L. Smith Henderson and Felix W. Henderson Sr. Annie was a lifetime member of Centennial United
Methodist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 12. As a member of the church, Annie served as the President of
the United Methodist Women, was a Lay Leader, a Sunday School teacher, and served in several other committees and ministries. She believed
that through God, all things were possible. She enjoyed sewing, cooking for her family and friends, sending gifts and trinkets to others, and being spoiled by her children and loved ones.

Annie will be remembered as a fun-loving, tenacious, optimistic, and opinionated woman who spoke her mind at all times–but more than anything, she loved her family. She was an avid reader and educated herself on a variety of topics, including nutrition, studying the word of God, and the art of speaking. As a life-long resident of Kansas City, Annie often put her wit and love of writing to good use, gracing the Kansas City Star with her opinion on everything from politics to sports, often sparring with Jason Whitlock and local residents alike. She received her early education in the Kansas City Public School District. She also studied nutrition at The University of Kansas. Annie worked as a seamstress in the Downtown Kansas City Garment District for several years and was a Paraprofessional at Graceland Elementary in the Kansas City Public School District for over 10 years. Annie was one of a kind and could capture any audience because of her confidence, knowledge, and oratory skills.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche L. Smith Henderson and Felix W. Henderson Sr.; husband, Eugene E. Brown I; 3 sons, Eugene E. Brown II, William E. Brown I, and Dwight C. Brown; and her only sibling, Felix W. Henderson Jr.

To cherish her memory are her 4 surviving children; Ronald T. Brown (Gloria), Anita L. Boyce (Charles), Angela R. Baker, and Leland C. Brown. She was the loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory other relatives and friends.

Annie L. Brown’s memorial service will be held at Centennial United Methodist Church, located at 1834 Woodland Ave. Kansas City, MO 64108, on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at 11:00am.
