Archester Clayton Norton Borders was born on June 3, 1941, in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, to Isaac and Naomi Borders. He was born a twin. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife (Doris Adkins Borders), and eight siblings. He received his education at Dunbar High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and later attended Langston University.
Following his educational pursuit, he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris, and they were blessed with two children, Alesha Borders and Archester Borders, II (Andrea). After his honorary discharge, he worked at Tension Envelopes, and later was hired by Frisco railroad (which eventually became Burlington Northern Sante Fe), where he retired decades later as a conductor.
Palestine Missionary Baptist became his church home and his passion was performing with the 100-men choir, driving the church transportation van, and serving as the president of the senior usher board, until his illness. He loved spending time at the church and with his family. Those were the things that brought happiness into his life. He would spend hours playing dominoes, slamming them down on the table and rubbing his head. He was so focused in thought that he almost rubbed out all of his hair.
Alesha and Archester Borders, II (Andrea), his grandkids, great-grands, nieces, nephews, and friends will always cherish his memory. He was and is loved…
