Arlvelt Eugene Bruster Jr. was born to the union of Arlvelt Sr. and Lena Webb Bruster on March 20, 1970, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the youngest of seven boys and four girls born to his mother.
Arlvelt was formally educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, where he was a proud member of the Central Blue Eagles, Class of 1988.
He worked at various places throughout his life. Most recently, he worked at the Blue Springs National Softball Association from 2014 to 2016, where he was honored as one of the up-and-coming rookie umpires in the Kansas City area. He also owned his own business, “Able and Blessed Lawn Service and More LLC,” established in 2017. He made personalized cups and T-shirts and operated this business for several years.
Arlvelt was blessed with two biological children, Arlvelt III and Lena Jr., and two stepdaughters, Ciera and Makayla Glover.
Affectionately known as “Vellimac” by family and close friends, Arlvelt had a charisma that made him unforgettable. He was an avid Chiefs fan and known for being one of the loudest voices in the room on game day—often at one of his brother’s homes.
He loved to travel and had visited three countries. Getting his passport was one of the most exciting moments of his life; to him, it symbolized freedom.
He loved his family deeply, no matter the circumstances. Arlvelt was a bright light in the family, and that light will always remain in our hearts. He was our baby brother and baby uncle.
Arlvelt departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at KU Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlvelt and Lena Bruster; brothers Richard Hill Jr., Marvin Hill, and Damon Bruster Sr.; paternal grandparents James Bruster and Johnnie Mae Gentry; maternal grandparents Augustus and Thelma Webb; four uncles, five aunts, one nephew, and one niece.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Arlvelt and Lena Bruster, Ciera and Makayla Glover; his siblings, Dennis Hill Sr., John Perkins Sr. (Vickie), Roland Perkins Sr. (Renee), Gail Mitchell-Johnson, Venus Hill, Sheila Marshall, Kim Perkins, Deserie Perkins, and Cynthia Hangrove; his loving fiancée, Carolyn Taylor; paternal aunt Jacquline Milton; bonus aunt Irene Furgeson; a special granddaughter, Nejhira Agee; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends.
