Ashley Nicole Rice was born February 12th, 1992. Born to LaTanya Lasker and Robert Rice in Kansas City, Missouri. Ashley’s name was a representation of our family legacy. In 1993, Ashley gave her mother away to her father, forming the union of her parents, Edward and LaTanya Dorch. At a young age, she gave her life away to Christ. Ashley was a member of Lane Ave Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
Ashley was a student of the Raytown School District, graduating from Raytown South High School in 2011. Throughout the duration of her school years, Ashley participated in sports, having a love for volleyball. After departing from high school, Ashley attended Heritage College. Leading with her strong passion for many things, she pursued her career in being a Certified Nursing Assistant as well as doing nail art, hair styling, writing and interior decorating, being a true visionary. Fueled by her creativity and perfectionism, she trailblazed her own lane, pursuing her entrepreneurial spirit onto a path of LLCs.
Ashley was blessed with two beautiful children Azyiah (8) and Carter (2), the joys of her life. Ashley’s biggest enjoyment was being a mother to her children and being surrounded by her loving family. Resulting in her adventurous personality, Ashley loved to swim and ride roller coasters, fulfilling her many excitements, as she always lived her life to the fullest. While also having multiple hobbies consisting of cooking, journaling, and painting, but most importantly, she prioritized taking her time to worship the Lord. Ashley departed this life on June 7th, 2025.
Her grandmother, Carrie J. Lasker, her great aunt, Patania E. Lasker, and her great uncle, June Baby (Earnest Utley), preceded her in death.
Ashley leaves to cherish her loving mother and father, LaTanya and Edward Dorch, her dad Robert Rice (Tina) her grandparents, Gennethia Williams, Edward Dorch Jr. (Elaine), Clark L Brown (Tonya). Her beautiful children, Azyiah and Carter, her siblings Marie Dorch, Jorden Dorch, Keonn Rice, Robert Rice Jr., and Dalyn Rice. She also leaves to cherish her great aunt Shelia A. Lasker, great uncle Oscar Lasker, her aunts Denise Brown (Markco), LaToya Lasker, LaTasha Lasker, Andrea Dorch, and her uncle Clark Parrish (Fatima) and her niece and nephews, Azariah, Zakharie Kai, Christian, Kannon, and a host of other cousins and relatives.
A funeral service will held Sat, June 28th, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC, 2800 E. 18th St. Kansas City, MO 64127. The visitation will begin at 9:00am, the service will follow at 11:00am.
