Camille Lynette Morrison was born on December 6, 1976, in Kansas City, Kansas, the second child of Phyliss Marie and Larry Morrison. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents — Willie and Alice Dixon, and Readers and Lottie Morrison.
Camille grew up in Kansas City, where she graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1995. She later earned her cosmetology license and spent several years doing what she loved — styling hair and helping others look and feel their best. She also built a career in the collections industry, working for several companies throughout the Kansas City area, where she was known for her strong work ethic and caring personality.
From a young age, Camille’s faith was an important part of her life. She accepted Christ early and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.C. Higgs. During her time at Bethel, she served in several ministries, including the Sunbeams, the Youth Missionary Department, and multiple choirs. Later in life, she continued her walk with God as a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church under Pastor Desmond Lamb.
Although Camille did not have biological children, she poured her heart into raising Christa Jackson, loving her as her own daughter from birth. The two shared a deep bond that reflected Camille’s nurturing spirit and capacity for unconditional love.
On October 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Camille peacefully transitioned from this life — the same date her father passed away in 2011. She was surrounded by love, with her sister Latrise and cousin Aronda by her side.
Camille leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Christa Jackson of Alabama; her sister Latrise Morrison of Kansas City, Missouri; her “sister from another mother,” Jennifer (Mookie) Brown; her niece Alicia (Rodney) Cunningham; her nephew Eric (Latrice) Verner Jr.; four great-nephews, one great-niece, one great-great-nephew, and a host of cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
Camille will be remembered for her radiant smile, her generous heart, and her unwavering love for family and friends. Her presence brought joy to everyone around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’”
