Carol Jannette Caughron was born November 19, 1941 in Hale, MO to John Wesley “JW” & Martha Ruth (McReynolds) Caughron. She passed away January 15, 2026 at the age of 84. Carol was raised in Bogard, MO, where she graduated from Bogard High School in 1959.

Carol married her 1st husband, Bud Quinn, on November 20, 1959. To this union 2 sons were born, Curtis and Allen Quinn, before ending in divorce on March 3, 1964.

On December 4, 1965, Carol married her 2nd husband, Jerry Wright, in Oklahoma City, OK. To this union one son was born, David Wright. Carol and Jerry divorced in 1977.

Carol married John Richardson on November 19, 1978 in Liberty, MO. Although no children were born of this union, Carol welcomed a stepson, Mike Richardson, into her life. John and Carol shared 22 devoted years together until his passing in 2001.

Following John’s death, Carol remained in the KC area before relocating to Chillicothe, MO around 2007. She continued living independently until December 2022, when she entered Aspire Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs, MO.

Throughout her working years, Carol held a variety of positions, including administrative assistant at AMC Theater Headquarters and Mid-Continent Public Library. She also operated her own successful business for many years, specializing in the custom sewing of wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

Those who knew Carol will remember her remarkable gift for conversation, her warmth, and her genuine interest in others. She took great pleasure in cooking and was an avid reader throughout her life. Carol also loved bird watching. According to her, the orioles on her porch would only eat name brand Welch’s grape jelly.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, JW Caughron & Ruth Baggs; her son, Curtis Quinn; her brother, Jack Caughron; and her husband, John Richardson.

She is survived by her sons Allen Quinn of Port St. Lucie, FL and David (Jennifer) Wright of Kansas City, MO; her stepson, Mike (Chris) Richardson of Davenport, FL; her siblings Robert “Bobby” (Linda) Caughron of Swainsboro, GA; Valerie Simmons of Ft. Myers, FL; and Harold Allen (Teresa) Baggs of Independence, MO and her grandchildren: Bryan & Kyle Quinn, Marilyn & Winston Wright.

Carol lived a full life. Her memory will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
