Charles Renard Sanders III

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Charles Renard Sanders III, known lovingly to his family and friends as Chucky, who left us too soon on April 23, 2025, at the age of 17. Born on February 15, 2008, Chucky was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him, and his loss has left a void that will never be filled.

Chucky was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and a spirit that could light up any room. He was a son, a grandson, a brother, a friend, and a student whose passion for life and love for others touched many. Chucky graduated from ARC in Kansas City, Missouri, and had recently started working at Chipotle, where he was eager to build his future. He had always dreamed of going to college to pursue a career as a therapist for children—a testament to his caring nature and desire to help others. Though his time here was far too brief, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his mother, Heather Sanders; her partner, Ross Gardener; stepmother, Kedra Sanders; siblings, Jada Sanders, Alyssa Sanders, Charleigh Sanders, and Wyatt Gardener; grandparents, Kevin McGhay, Mary McGhay, and Marsha Kirkland; aunts and uncles, April McGhay, Katie McGhay, Ricky Sanders, Amanda Briones and husband Nick Briones, Sarah Lorenzen and husband Eric Lorenzen, Micaila Sackman and husband Austin Sackman; and many cousins, other family members, and friends who will continue to hold him dear.

Chucky was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sanders Jr.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 9th, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 Route 291, Liberty, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at XII Gate Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Chucky’s light will never fade, and he will forever be remembered for the love, laughter, and warmth he gave to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
