IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clifford Leo
McMurlyn
June 21, 1947 – December 30, 2025
Clifford LeRoy McMurlyn, age 78, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on December 30, 2025.
Cliff was born on June 21, 1947, in Faribault, Minnesota. He lived a life marked by service, dedication, laughter, and a deep devotion to his family. Known for his quick wit and ever-present smile, Cliff had a natural gift for humor and could brighten any room with a well-timed joke and his warm, welcoming spirit.
Cliff proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Naval Airman, reflecting a lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to something greater than himself. This spirit of service remained a guiding force throughout his life.
On May 29, 1971, Cliff married the love of his life, Yelenia McMurlyn. Together, they shared 54 devoted years of marriage built on love, partnership, and countless cherished memories.
Cliff graduated from Central High School in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1965. He went on to earn both his Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Mesa College and later completed his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Colorado State University. His passion for education led to a distinguished career in teaching and educational leadership as a professor and principal. Cliff’s leadership, integrity, and dedication to student success left a lasting impact on students, educators, and the communities he served.
A devoted father and proud grandfather, Cliff is survived by his daughters, Michele Wisnasky and her husband, Tom, and Stephanie Hageman and her husband, Ryan. He was a loving grandfather to Brecken, William, and Broden Wisnasky, and Taylor, Colton (Erika), and Dylan (Mackenzie) Hageman, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Duane McMurlyn and Helen Mae Snow.
Beyond his family, Cliff found great joy in the outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing—whether hunting deer and elk in the Colorado mountains or fishing alongside his father at the Salton Sea in California. These moments in nature brought him peace, reflection, and happiness.
Cliff also had a deep love for music that spanned many decades and genres. He enjoyed concerts by artists such as James Taylor, The Eagles, Three Dog Night, The Beach Boys, and Tom Petty. With just a few chords, Cliff could often identify both the song and the artist. He also delighted in watching documentaries about his favorite bands and musicians.
Above all, Cliff will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and valued. His laughter, stories, and legacy of service will live on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Cliff was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Cliff’s GoFundMe in his honor:
