Cynthia Sue Lane (Breiholz), known affectionately as Cindy, passed away on August 14, 2024, in Liberty, Missouri, at the age of 71. Born on August 2, 1953, in Davenport, Iowa, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.
Cindy graduated from Davenport West High School in 1971. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, working as a secretary at a Methodist organization for 10 years and then for the Iowa Army National Guard at Camp Dodge for 27 years, where she served in various departments and received numerous accolades for her commitment and dedication. Along with enjoying her work at the National Guard, she also appreciated the many friends and life lessons she learned over the years.
Family was the cornerstone of Cindy's life. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Roy Lane; daughters, Teresa Lane and Kari Lane; grandchildren, Angelica Opperman, Angeline Lane, Douglas Opperman; and great-grandchildren, Peter Lane, Naomi Nickerson and Atticus Lane. She also leaves behind her sister and best friend, Eva Husted. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Bailey Lane, and siblings, Dennis Breiholz, Duane Breiholz, and Debra Cluff.
Cindy's faith was an important aspect of her life, attending both Lutheran and Methodist churches. She had many hobbies but enjoyed most playing co-ed softball with her husband, gardening, cake decorating, and ceramics. She was particularly passionate about teaching her daughters and grandchildren the art of cooking and baking, using this time to bond and create lasting memories. She always had hoped that one of the kids would take up her love of flowers and planting. Her dream was that the kids would enjoy it as much as her when spring season would arrive and you could start planning and planting. She could talk for hours about what plants and ideas she had for her flower gardens, her only complaint was the short season for flowers.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 31st from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. at VFW 9662, 1309 NE 66th Ave., Des Moines, IA. Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services of Kansas City, Missouri, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Missouri or Harbor Hospice of Independence, Missouri, in memory of Cindy. Her legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.
