Cynthia Rose
Vaughn (Miller)
Jan 18, 1952 — Apr 28, 2026
God chose to bring Cynthia Rose Vaughn, lovingly known as “Cynthia Rose” home from her temporary residence in Kansas City, Missouri, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to rest in His arms after battling with cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by her beloved children and extended family members as she peacefully moved into her heavenly home. Young Cynthia Rose was born on January 18,1952. Her dad was Ernest Miller, and her mother was Mary Swift. Her family had roots in the south and eventually the family relocated to the Big City. She was the oldest of 5 children. She was strong, courageous, and most of all she was indeed a leader. Cynthia graduated from High School, in 1969, an era when the slogan, “Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud!" was on the rise and many of the young men were going to war. Some of her proudest accomplishments were when she graduated from the U.S. Army in St. Louis, Missouri, after 5 years of service. Then she attended college, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in science and she raised her children. One of her children said she was “The toughest woman I know at times”, but we understood she meant business, and she loved us dearly” Yes, she may have been a little stern but her only desire was for her children to be productive and hardworking citizens. She had hobbies just like most, she found joy in the simple moments especially sitting outside and enjoying the beauty of nature. Baking cakes for friends and family was one of her greatest joys. Above all she treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be forever cherished. Cynthia Rose was employed with St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Missouri, on the Plaza, for 22 years as a Charge Nurse. Undoubtedly, she took care of her children and provided a secure roof over them until they were able to provide for themselves, and she retired. Cynthia Rose Vaugh was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Miller and her mother Mary Swift. She leaves to mourn her death her children: Shelly Miller, Yolanda Wilson, Quincy Vaughn Sr., Demarco Vaughn & (Antonio Atty-Vaughn son in law) Tina Garcia, Bernard Johnigan; her 5 siblings: Barbara Jean, Ernestine, Birdie Lee, Bobcat, and Charles; her grandchildren: Quincy Jr. Jada, Jachell, Quinton, Jackie, Domminick, Albert, Chynna, and Jessica, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. This bold, bright, and brilliant woman, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend will be greatly missed by many. See you in the morning. We lived, laughed, and loved.
