Demetrius Alexander LaNear

Demetrius Alexander LaNear, affectionately know as “DA”, was born on September 16, 1986, in Kansas City, Missouri to
Nicole Mosby and Marvin LaNear. He was proceeded in death by both parents, his grandparents, Merle and Pearl Mosby,
and his brother, Travell Mosby. After Nicole’s untimely passing, DA was later reared by his uncle Travis Mosby Sr. and his
wife, Alisha Mosby whom he lovingly called “Pop” and “Mom”.

DA attended schools in both Kansas City, MO and Virginia Beach, VA; eventually earning a General Education Degree.
During his educational journey he tried his hand at many things. In his early years he was an avid chest player. He went
on to try football and quickly determined he was not athletically inclined. In his high-school years, DA would spend
copious hours preparing his wardrobe for the next school day. He excelled in science and loved to be outside.
DA was most often the quietest person in the room, observing others. He kept a small circle of friends. He was most
vivacious and wore a genuine smile when with his children. He often spoke of the type of father he desired to be and
struggled deeply with what he recognized as his shortcomings. DA held various jobs while also battling acute renal failure
and recurring dialysis appointments.

DA would remark that while his life was not what he wants it to be, he believes in, knows, and loves God. That is where
those of us who remain should draw our comfort as DA will be greatly missed!

DA transitioned from this earthly life in the early hours on Monday, July 24, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory, his
uncle (Pop) Travis E. Mosby Sr. (Alisha), Dallas, TX, his three children, Demariona LaNear, De’Mya LaNear, Demetrius
LaNear (Kansas City, MO) and his five siblings, bothers Brandon Mosby (Kansas City, MO) and Travis Mosby Jr. (Dallas,
TX); sisters, Tiyonna Hutchingson, Trinity Mosby, and Te’a Mosby (all of Dallas, TX).
