Dennis Davidson

Dennis K. Davidson, lovingly known as Grandpa Denny, Uncle D, Double D, and Derwood, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Dennis spent his early years growing up in the Excelsior Springs and Orrick area. He lived the kind of childhood that stories are made of—on a farm, with a horse named Trigger and a heart full of adventure.

Dennis worked hard throughout his life, first as a dedicated Boilermaker for 10 years, and later retiring from Lake City Ammunition Plant where he served as a controller and inspector in the power plant. His work ethic was only matched by his loyalty and compassion for others.

He is survived by a large and loving family: his daughter, Shelley, and son-in-law, Brian Willouer; his sons, Brandon Davidson, and Jeff Davidson with daughter-in-law, Jessica Davidson; his stepdaughter, Amy Mullineaux and husband, Bob; stepsons, Mark Rodenberg, Darin Rodenberg and wife, Rachel, and Isaac Hunt. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Allen and wife, Sherri Allen. Dennis was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Dennis was known for his sharp sense of humor, enormous heart, and ability to light up any room. A trickster with a legendary poker face, he loved to laugh and make others laugh too. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back without a second thought. He lived and loved fully—and never halfway.

Dennis had a strong faith in God and truly lived it every day. His compassion, kindness, and love for people were a direct reflection of his deep and abiding belief in something greater than himself. He didn’t just talk about his faith—he showed it through action, grace, and a generous heart.

A lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Dennis enjoyed fishing and boating at the lake, birdwatching, riding his Harley, watching football and westerns, shopping, bicycling, entertaining friends and family, and dominating a ping pong table like a true master.

Funeral services will be held at Rayville Christian Union Church in Rayville, Missouri, on June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri. Additional service details will be shared with family and friends.

Dennis’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, faith, and deep love. He will be missed beyond measure but remembered forever by those fortunate enough to know him.
