Diane was born in Kansas City, Missouri on the 26th of April in 1964. She was the eldest of 6 children born to the late Matthew Phillips Jr and Alberta Phillips. As a young child Diane had experienced diverse churches in the beginning of her journey to Christ and she accepted him into her heart at the age of 18 at Good Hope Baptist Church. She engaged in fellowship at various churches, but her home was at Covenant Memorial Baptist Church. Her favorite gospel hymns were “Jesus Loves Me”, “His Eye Is On the Sparrow”, and “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”.

Diane was united in holy matrimony to Odell Hill, whom preceded her in death, for 6 years. To this union was born 2 children, Alonna Hill and Jaheim Hill. The eldest child, Martelle Phillips, was born to Robert Carter. She loved all three of her children and raised them with a village of family and friends.

Diane worked in the field for many years where she’s experienced various things at various jobs. She worked in activities for over 25 years; with a long standing at Swope Ridge Geriatric Center, she then transferred to Parkview Healthcare from where she retired. She loved servicing the nursing home and taking care of family. She started working at a very young age and would have continued caring for others if given the chance.

Diane loved working, being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Taking care of residents, and helping others that needed help was something she enjoyed doing. Diane also enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, watching the sunset on her porch, and being around her people.

She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Phillips Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her children (Martelle, Alonna & Jaheim), her mother (Alberta), her only sister (Brenda), her brothers (Melvin, Lee, Jesse & Marlon), her grandchildren (Shantrice, Martelle, Stefhon & Journee), her aunt (Mattie) her nieces & nephews, and cousins.
