Earl Thomas
Everett Jr.
March 8, 1955 – April 4, 2026
Earl Thomas Everett Jr. was born on March 8, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late Bobbie-Jean Shropshire, Earl Everett Sr., and Spellman Shropshire. Earl received his education in the Kansas City area and graduated from Southeast High School, where he was known as a standout football player. His passion and talent for the game continued as he attended the University of Nebraska, where he played quarterback and further developed his love for football.
Earl dedicated much of his life to serving and uplifting young people. He worked with youth at Gillis Boys Home and Crittenton Children’s Center, where he made a lasting impact. He later became an educator at Smith-Hale Middle School and also served as a football coach at both Smith-Hale and Ruskin High School within the Hickman Mills School District. Through teaching and coaching, Earl mentored countless students, leaving behind a legacy of guidance, discipline, and care.
Earl found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching sports—especially football—and was known for his passion for barbecuing and cooking for his family. Music also filled his heart, with a special love for R&B. Above all, Earl cherished the time he spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Earl was united in marriage to Tonya S. Everett, and to this union and his life, he was blessed with a loving daughter, Morgan Sydnor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobbie-Jean Shropshire, Earl Everett Sr., and Spellman Shropshire; his sister, Angela Everett-Dean; and his niece, Jeannine Dean. Earl is survived by his Wife Tonya; his Daughter, Morgan; his beloved Grandson, James Ryan Orr all of Lee’s Summit, Mo; his Younger Brother, Christopher Shropshire (Tina) of Raytown, Mo. with whom he shared an unbreakable bond and many, many childhood to adulthood memories especially during football season; Nieces Ta’Neika, Ari’yan, and Krishay; Great-Nephew Jordan Gragg and Great-Niece Jaiden Gates; and a host of extended family members, friends, former students, and players whose lives he touched.
