Edward Nelson Cunningham passed away on July 20, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born April 30, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Edward Ray Cunningham and Lula Inez Watts-Cunningham. He was known to most family members as ‘Bubby’. He lived all of his life in Kansas City, Missouri, except for the last couple of years, when he lived with his daughter and her family in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Bubby (Ed) worked at Butternut Bakery (closed in 1984) and the Taystee Bakery (closed in 1992). He worked alongside his uncle, Jimmy Watts. After he left the bakery, he did custodian work for a few companies.

He married Edith (Edie) Louise Madison on August 24, 1974. They had 3 children, Angela, Travis, and Joseph Cunningham. Bubby and Edie divorced in 1993.

Bubby joins his parents: Ed & Lula Cunningham, his sisters: Glenda Faye Cunningham-Jennings & Anita Louise Cunningham. He leaves behind his 3 children & their families: Angela Cunningham & Darryl Banks (Blue Springs, MO); Travis & Dena Cunningham (Belton, MO) & Joseph Cunningham (Raytown, MO). His brother, Billy Ray Cunningham (Warsaw, MO). His uncle Jimmy Watts & wife Lexie (Clinton, MO). Twelve grandchildren: Dion Williams (Melissa), Dylan Williams, Krystina Whitehead, Keileigh Whitehead, Kayla Cunningham-Schumacher (Zach), Paige Cunningham, Jacob Cunningham, Kylah Cunningham-Strong (Darryl), Sharon Cunningham, Joseph Cunningham Jr, Aurri Cunningham, Tiandra Duncan. 14 great-grandchildren.

Bubby will be missed by many family members & friends.
