Elmo Garlington Jr.

Elmo Garlington Jr. was born on February 13, 1956, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Athlene “Canady” Garlington and Elmo Garlington Sr.

Elmo was educated in the Kansas City school district and furthered his education at Penn Valley. He worked as a computer technician for many years, serving various companies throughout the Kansas City area.

Elmo was never married and had no children. He enjoyed playing dominoes and was a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court.

Elmo departed this life on April 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Athlene and Elmo Garlington Sr.; his sisters, Zepherine Busby, Sharon Garlington, and Carol Rone; and his brothers, Glenn Garlington and Walter Garlington.

He leaves to cherish his memory: siblings Anita Garlington (Kansas City), Shelia “Charles” Holmes (Blue Springs), Mary “Charles” West, Linda Wilson (Kansas City), and Eric “Patricia” Garlington (Kansas City); uncle Fletcher “Melanise” Canady (North Carolina); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. A special friend, Lovie I. Moore Watson, also remains to honor his memory.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC, 2800 E. 18th ST. Kansas City, MO 64127. The visitation will begin at 9:00am, the service will follow at 10:00am.
