In Loving Memory of Ester LueNell “Hazel” Williams. Ester LueNell Williams, Hazel, who was affectionately known to family and friends, peacefully departed this life on July 30, 2026, at the age of 74. Hazel was born on September 24, 1951, in Grand Junction, TN, to the late Nizell and Walter Poplar. She grew up surrounded by family and carried a warm, loving spirit that touched everyone she met. She attended Old Salem High School in Ashland, MS, where she formed a lifetime friendship. On July 6, 1969, Hazel married the love of her life, Larry Williams. Together, they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. Hazel accepted Christ at an early age, and she was a faithful member of Emmanuel Church under the leadership of Pastor R. L. White, where she worshipped and found strength in her faith throughout her life. Even when she could not make it to church, she would sit and listen to the pastor's services on the radio. She dedicated many years of faithful service to the Kansas City School District, where she worked with pride in food service until her retirement. Her kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on countless students, coworkers, and families.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Nizell and Walter Poplar; her brothers, Walter Poplar, David Lee Poplar, and Cleveland Poplar; and her beloved children, Dannie Hudson and Ishonda Williams. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted husband of 57 years, Larry Williams; her loving children, Diana Williams of Kansas City, MO, and LaTonya Garlington (Derrick) of Kansas City, MO; her loving brother, Don Avery Poplar; and her cherished grandchildren: John Canty, Jalen Dean, JaleaDean, Leonard Lewis, Jocelyn Roland, Leonna Lewis, Jazmin Boles (JaniyaBoles), Cydni Cooper, Brianna Hudson of Germany, Isaac Freeman(Rosetta), Perdexter Washington, Jeremy Hudson, Rolando Pitts (Jonnea), AngelHudson, Laurence Hudson, along with a host of great-grandchildren, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members whose lives weredeeply touched by her love, kindness, and gentle spirit. Hazel’s legacy of strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard…”
