Felicia Lynn Taylor

Felicia Lynn Taylor was born August 16, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri to parents, Carletta Thompson and Henry White.
Felicia was educated in the Kansas City Public School District attending Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Martin Luther King Middle School and Van Horn High School. Felicia worked for Riteway Nursing Home, as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Felicia greatest accomplishment was being a nurturer to her family.

She was a faithful member of Grace Spiritual Temple under the leadership of Bishop Charles N. Slayton from childhood until the closing of the church in the early 2000's. Her proudest memories were giving birth to twin boys, Damion and Demetrius Thompson in March of 1984, and the following year her one and only daughter, Diamond Thompson. Felicia relocated for a short period in 1990 to Minnesota where she met the love of her life Derrick Taylor and they returned to Kansas City, marrying on July 9, 1994.

She began her career job with the KC Public School District as a cafeteria attendant, later transferring to a classroom para-professional until she became disabled becoming a care-giver, always willing to help so many people, sharing her nurturing spirit with those she loved. Felicia loved her family, cooking, music and a good time.
Felicia departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Demetrius L. Thompson, Jr.; parents, Carletta Thompson and Henry White; brother, Roderick Roland; great-grandparents, Louis & Georgia Sills; grandparents, Robert L (Mary L.) and Venita Thompson; mother & father in-law, George and Bobbie Jean Taylor; aunts, Sherry Jenkins, Georgia Jackson (LeRoy), and Rowena Alexander; uncles, James Thompson, Keith Hamilton and Robert Lee Wright, along with many great aunts and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 29 years, Derrick Taylor; twin sons, Damion & Demetrius Thompson; one and only daughter, Diamond Thompson; brother, Carl Thompson Sr. (Joanne); sisters, Janell Trice (Greg), Ronnetta Thompson, Pamela Smith, Tinisha Robinson and Lynn White; brother in-laws, Ronnie McGee (Brenda) and Alonzo Taylor (Kim); nine grandkids, Daniel Brown Jr., Diamonae Griswold, Taliyah Brown, Danae Griswold, Dy'Anna Thompson, DeAndre Griswold, Da'Mya Thompson, Kordiere Griswold and Demetrius Thompson II; aunts, Londa Thompson, Lisa Smith (Bill), Christine Thompson- Greenwood (Turone), Linda Thompson, M.L., Alverae; uncle, Wayne Thompson (Rosemary); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
