In Loving Memory of Florence Jane Simmons

Better Known as “Aunt Janie”Sunrise: March 16, 1937 • Sunset: January 1, 2026

Florence Crease Simmons, 88, of Olathe, Kansas, gained her wings on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home.

Florence owned and operated her own cleaning service for over 30 years. Aunt Janie had a heart for helping others and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and especially knitting.

Florence was born on March 16, 1937, in Rayville, Louisiana, to the late Florence Crease and Phil Julius Crease, Jr. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her two husbands, Joseph Charles Leonard and Jack Simmons; three brothers, Phil Julius Crease III, James Crease, and Christopher Crease; and two sisters, Odessa Crease and Juanita Cooper.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Lynn Broadway of Georgia, and her son, Vernon Leonard of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Rosella McDade of Rayville, Louisiana, and her sister-in-law, Betty Crease of Humble, Texas. Florence also leaves behind to cherish her memory her niece, Jacqueline Kendricks of Olathe, Kansas, four grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Aunt Janie, even though you are no longer with us in body, your love, wisdom, strength, and gentle spirit live on in our hearts. I am grateful for the years we shared, the lessons you taught me, and the love you gave so freely. You are deeply loved, missed, and forever remembered.

Aunt Janie (Florence), Red (Jackie) loves you forever and a day.May God grant you eternal peace and comfort our hearts as we remember you with love.
