Geoffrey Aurthur Luckett was born on March 5, 1957, to Jane Vivian Luckett and Arthur George Campbell, Jr., in Elmira, New York. Geoffrey graduated from Elmira Free Academy and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While serving, he met the love of his life, Cynthia, also known as Fran. They married and were deeply in love with one another. Together they traveled all over the country to explore, visit loved ones, and just enjoy each other’s company.
Geoffrey loved cars and driving, so it made sense that he made a career of transporting goods across the country after leaving the military, driving semis, up until 2024. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, watches, and many different interesting weapons. Though rhythmically challenged, he loved listening to music and dancing. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia “Fran” Luckett; his mother, Jane Luckett; and his son, Melvin Shoats Jr.
He is survived by his children, Geoffrey A. Bennett, Madelyn Shoats, DeJuan Neal, and Melinda Shoats-Neal; his sisters, Beverly Whitty and Dayna Schreckengost; his brother, George Campbell III; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was a joy to be around, full of wisdom, light, and love. Geoffrey would literally give someone the shirt off his back.“Every day is a holiday, every meal is a feast, and every march is a parade.”
