Georgia Mae Christian (Lee)

Georgia Mae Christian was born to Johnny Joe Lee and Viola (Woods) Lee on October 23, 1930 in Longview, Texas.

She was the youngest of three children. Georgia entered Heaven’s gates on January 9, 2024. Georgia married Billie Lee Christian, Sr., on August 14, 1953. To this union six children were born.

The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri from Longview, Texas in 1962. During her career, Georgia worked at Robert’s Door & Window Company for many years and retired from The Kansas City International Airport in 1997 as a city employee.

Georgia enjoyed fishing, traveling, horse racing, and professional football and baseball games. She also enjoyed spending her pastime at our local casinos. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Billie Lee Christian, Sr., her parents, her two siblings: Lawrence Lee and Willie Mae Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Barbara Joyce Christian, Sherrie Rachell Smith (Charles), and Sandy Carol Davis; three sons: Samuel Ray Christian (Jada), Billie Lee Christian, Jr. (Bonnie), and Courtenay Durand Christian (Jennifer); nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves her nephew Lawrence Lee, and two nieces Patricia Workenh and Deborah Peterson and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 18, 2024, visitation will be from  10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services,LLC 2800 East 18th st. KCMO 64127.

Internment: Friday January 19, 2024 at 10 A.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
