Geraldine
Hawkins
October 29, 1947 – March 15, 2026
Geraldine “Jeri” Hawkins was born on October 29, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Parthenia
Hawkins and Oscar Jackson. She was the third of nine children.
In her youth, Geraldine accepted Christ, and as she matured, she embraced the Muslim faith as well. She found meaning in both spiritual paths, drawing wisdom from the Qur’an and the Holy Bible. Her faith was never confined to one place; instead, it lived in her curiosity, her reverence for learning, and her capacity to love. She worshiped with the St. James Paseo United Methodist Church community for many years, greatly enriching her walk with God.
Educated in Kansas City, Geraldine attended W.W. Yates Grade School and Manual High
School. Her educational journey led her to Penn Valley Community College and Brown Mackie College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree. She continued her studies at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), proudly completing her Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 2003 and her Master of Social Work in 2005.
As a young adult, Geraldine worked at Hallmark Cards and later built a long career as a
beautician, styling hair at Claire’s Boutique, in her brothers’ salons, and in her own home. Her calling eventually led her to the field of social work, where she served with dedication at the Kansas City Juvenile Court, UMKC, Western Missouri Mental Health Center, and Truman
Medical Center.
Above all her achievements, Geraldine’s life was defined by her devotion to her four children: Robert, Teri, Omar, and Jamillah. Her union with Robert Allen Green was the foundation of the family she poured her heart into, and she took immense pride in raising her children to be the people they are today.
Geraldine transitioned from this life on March 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her first- born son, Tyrone DeAngelo; her mother, Parthenia Hawkins; her father, Oscar Jackson;
and her siblings, Floyce Teresa “Pot” Crawford, Ernest Eugene “Geno” Hawkins,
John Earl Hawkins, and Claude Edward Hawkins, Sr.
She leaves to celebrate and honor her memory her children: Robert Earl Green, Teri Aishah-
Nidah Green, Omar Kareim Green, and Jamillah Latifah Green; her siblings: Harry Hawkins, Jr., Leroy Hawkins, Alice N. Sillimon, and Juanita Louise Douglas; her grandchildren: Curtis Terrell Johnson (and his spouse, SSG Aliah Johnson), Omar Green II (and his spouse, Ashlee Green), Skii Muad’dib Alphonso Thompson, Ahmeenah Lateefah Etahmar Green, Elijah Alexander Green, Aaliyah Mirani Duckett, Quentin Lorenz Duckett, and Miles Odin-Allen Green; her two great-grandchildren, Sadie Rae Johnson and Cason Terrell Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
