Gregory Leon Shields

Gregory Leon Shields was born January 7, 1968 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Scottie Mae Starks-Walker and Lae Walker. He departed this life on August 3, 2025, Peacefully at the family home. Gregory accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1986. He was a fun-loving and family-centered man who always made himself available to help those around him, no matter what was needed. Whether cracking jokes, jumping into a conversation, or lending a hand, Gregory made sure you knew he was there.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Scottie Starks-Walker and Lae Walker. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Deanthony King of Kansas City, Missouri; and nine siblings: Jacquelin Starks, Derrick Walker, Jacob Waldrup, LaTanya Johnson, Nicole (Timothy) Hubbard, Artemis Walker, Bridget Walker, and Laetta Walker, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and Gwendolyn Walker of Houston, Texas. A host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also shared a special connection with his longtime and devoted caregiver, Ms. Brenda Williams.

Gregory will be cremated, and a memorial service in his honor will be announced at a later time. He will be missed, remembered, and loved always by the family and friends who knew his heart.
