GWENDOLYN KAY HIXSONFebruary 6, 1953 – April 14, 2020 Gwendolyn Kay Hixson, loving wife, mother , grandmother and sister entered eternal life with herLord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 14, 2020.  A memorial service will be held at a future date at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, Kansas after the current gathering restrictions are liftedin Kansas.  Gwen was born on February 6, 1953, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She completed her high school education at Concordia Lutheran High in Fort Wayne in 1971.She married Dennis Hixson on April 7,1973.  The majority of her married life was spent raising her two sons in Fort Wayne; Bristol, Tennessee; Longwood, Florida; and Overland Park, Kansas.  Upon birth of her first grand daughter she began working outside her home with majority of the time as a receptionist at a local dentists office before retiring in 2018. For over 20 years Gwen enjoyed volunteering with Lutheran Braille Workers making Bibles for those without sight.  She also coordinated a major annual fundraising event for Advice and Aid Pregnance Centers in Overland Park for a few years.Gwen was proceded in death by her father and mother, Carl and Gertude (Hermann) Scherer. She is Survived be Denny, her husband of 47 years; her sons: Eric Hixson, Kansas City, Kansas. Kevin (Melinda) Hixson, Centennial, Colorado; and three precious granddaughters: Sadie , Julia and Leslie Hixson. Also surviving is her sister Donna Jean Scherer, Fort Wayne.Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 5601 West 62nd Street Mission, Kansas 66202 or Advice and Aid Pregnancy Centers, 10901 Granada Lane, Suite 100  Overland Park, Kansas 66211.
