Henry Lee Harrell was born October 5, 1954, in Kansas City, MO to Delores Harrell and Maurice Harrell.
Henry was educated in the Kansas City, MO school district and graduated with honors in May 1974 from Lincoln High School.
Henry worked at the Hilton Plaza Inn Hotel for 18 years in sanitation/janitorial services, Trinity Lutheran Hospital 8 years, ending his final employment at Research Medical Center for the next 14 years, truly a dedicated and hard worker. Henry had a special artistry talent – He was even-handed and could draw & create master pieces. Henry accepted our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ at a very early age, and he loved the Lord and would preach his word to everyone he encountered. If you know you know, and he let you know “GOD is in control of all things”. He attended Pentecostal Church of God in Christ for many years under the direction of Bishop Daniel M. Jordan and he loved his church home. Henry loved his family, music/records, favorite foods (red hot dogs, eggs, & sausage), and scratch off tickets.
Henry was never married and did not have children, but he lived happily with his wonderful sister Debbie Harrell for 47 years and helped raised her children Damon, Zandra, Tiffany, & Michael.
Henry departed this life on Monday October 6, 2025, a day after celebrating his 71st birthday with his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Delores Harrell, father Maurice Harrell, sister Jacqueline Burns, and sister Geraldine Harrell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother Robert Burns (Rhonda), sister Debbie Harrell, brother Mark Harrell, brother Ray Harrell, nephews Damon & Michael, nieces Zandra & Tiffany (Jeremy), and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives & friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025 at DNA Community Center, 17902 N. Whitney Rd. Independence, MO 64321. The visitation will being at 10:00am, the service will follow at 11:00am.
