Jasper Garcia, May 24, 1939 - August 15, 2026. Jasper "Jay" Garcia, 87, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was born May 24, 1939, in Charco, Texas, born to Jose and Sara Garcia. He was a graduate of A.C. Jones High School in 1958, and immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps. After completing his Marine Corps tour, he re-enlisted in the Army for another tour of duty. He went to work at DuPont in Topeka, where he worked nights to put himself through college. He graduated from Washburn University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He attended the University of Kansas and received his Master's Degree. Eventually, he settled in Kansas City, Missouri, working for the Department of Housing and Community Development. He enjoyed a long, successful career with the City before taking a job with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Sara Garcia; brothers, Raul Garcia, Joe Garcia, Robert Garcia; sisters, Genevieve Mata, Vivian Garcia; and Son-in-Law, Cruz "Rene" Soza. Jay leaves behind his loving wife, Victoria Barker; his first wife, Mary Ann Garcia; their daughters, Angenette Garcia-Soza and Catherine Garcia; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Cremation to be followed by a private family gathering.
