John Donald Bedford

John Donald Bedford ‘aka’ Pettie Bedford was born June 17, 1963 to Gertina Jones and David Bedford Sr. in Kansas City Mo.

He made a life career in mechanics at an early age, this was his passion and he loved it, until his health failed him.

John met Sharon in February 1986-87 in Kansas City, Mo. They would marry five years later July 18, 1991. In that union they had four children, plus a bonus son. In every step he chose in life he loved his children, family and friends.

He departed his life Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in his home. He was precede in death by his father David Bedford Sr., his brother Kirk Lee Bedford and his sister Glenda “Gail” Hobby.

Mr. Bedford leaves to cherish his memory, Five children, Jason Matthews, DeMarcus Bedford, Marquez Bedford, Kaylia Bedford and TyReek Bedford all of Rochester Mn.; Two grandchildren, Jason Matthews Jr. and Devontae Wilson Bedford both of Rochester Mn.; Four sisters, Betty Degraftenreed, Ella Gray, Brenda Hobby and Diane Douglas all of Kansas City, Mo.; Six brothers David Bedford Jr., Charles Bedford, Calvin Bedford, Eddie Bedford, Terry Hobby and Kavan Hobby all of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host for nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and close friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 17, 2024, visitation 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. with services beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services, LLC 2800 East 18th st., Kansas City, Mo 64127.
