John “Ed” Edward Cash, 84, of Kansas City, MO died on May 10, 2024 after battling dementia.

Born on September 28, 1939 as the only child of Riley Bain and Nora “Marge” Marguerite Cash
in Kansas City, MO, Ed was a lifelong member of the Kansas City community. After his father’s
death in 1954, Ed completed high school and went on to attend and graduate from the
University of Notre Dame. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the
U.S.S. Providence during the Vietnam War.

After completing his service time, he returned to the Kansas City area and completed his law
degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1970. Ed would also meet the love of his
life, Marilyn MacAllister, and the two were married on December 11, 1976. He would go on to
have two children, four grandchildren, and eventually retire from his law practices.

Although the onset of dementia in his later years eventually took him from this world, it could
never take away his love and devotion for his family, his compassion for his fellow man, his
always-present sense of humor, and his dry wit; there was never a pun or play on words he did
not enjoy. Ed’s love of the Royals, Chiefs, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish would carry on
throughout his life, and he made sure his children always knew to root for the team with the
golden helmets.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn, of Kansas City, MO; his son Michael
(Jessica) of Lone Jack, MO; his daughter Laura (Ryan) of Olathe, KS; his four grandchildren
Freya, Violet, Maia, and Caius; and loving cousins, in-laws, and friends.
