John Whitten Lindsey

John Whitten Lindsey, lovingly known as “Daddy,” was born on July 1, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late A.C. Lindsey and Lillie Ruth Lindsey. He received his early education at Southeast High School and continued his studies at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

John dedicated many years of hard work to Butler Transportation, where he built a respected career before enjoying a well-earned retirement.

On July 12, 1980, John married the love of his life, Zelda Joyce Lindsey. Their union, rooted in faith, love, and family, spanned over 44 years and was blessed with four children: John, Jarita, Joe, and Joshua.

A devoted husband and father, John was a pillar of strength, compassion, and support.

He was happiest surrounded by his loved ones and could often be found watching his favorite shows—Law & Order, CSI, and Chicago Fire. He was also a man of deep faith, frequently spending time reading his Bible and reflecting on life’s blessings.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest brother, Albert Lindsey.

He peacefully departed this life on his 64th birthday, July 1, 2025. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit endures in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
