John L Wilson was born on May 3rd 1949 in Mira, Louisiana to Willa Mae and Joe Wilson, Sr. Both parents preceded him in death, he is also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Wilson, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. John attended Hermdon High School in Belchin, Louisiana.

He gave his life to Christ and Baptized at an early age at Kinny Pond in Hosston, Louisiana. He became a Deacon in 1992 under Rev. Don Vessel at Love United Church and became a member in 1994 at Friendship Baptist Church where he served on The Usher Ministry for 30 years.

John joined the US Armed Military Service in 1968 where he fought in Vietnam War from 1970-1971, he ranked E-6 Machine Gunman Engineer and retired after twenty years of service. He joined The Mason’s in 2008 with the Amos Johnson Lodge 148. John also spent a lot of his time volunteering with the R.E.A.P organization in Raytown, Mo.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Shirlese Scott (Special Friend), Marley (Dog), Melvina Wilson (Sister), stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, The Logan Villa Family, and his close friends Mary and Darryl Whitmill.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday October 20, 2023, visitation will be held from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11A.M. at Friendship Baptist Church 3530 Chelsea Drive Dr.  Kansas City, Mo 64128.

Internment : Forest Hill Cemetery
