Johnnie Edward Gary Jr., 56, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026.

Johnnie was born January 1, 1970, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Johnnie Edward Gary Sr. and Harriet Gary (Polk). Johnnie attended St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from Normandy High School in 1988. Johnnie eventually moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1996 to be closer to family and new job opportunities. He worked various jobs over the years but worked at SafeFleet Inc. in Belton, Missouri, as a Safety Technician for the past three years and was known for his work ethic and was well liked by many of his colleagues.

Johnnie enjoyed working on cars, working out, hanging out with friends, and attending or watching sporting events. Johnnie will be remembered as a charismatic person, an animated storyteller, his knowledge of various subjects, and his love for history.

Johnnie is survived by his mother, Harriet Gary (Polk), Kansas City, MO; brothers, Eugene Rogers, Kansas City, MO, and Charles Clay (Shon’Tay), Grandview, MO; son, Johnathan Gary, St. Louis, MO; daughters, Jasmine Gary, St. Louis, MO (Tanjela Buckley), Jayla Gary, St. Louis, MO (Peggy Bishop), Julianna Gary and Jocelyn Gary, Dallas, TX (Adrian Hannold); two granddaughters, Londyn Crenshaw and Jhordyn Brown; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Gary Sr., and brother, Maurice Rogers.
