Karen Leigh
Long
October 4, 1958 – March 28, 2026
Karen Leigh Long, 67, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on October 4, 1958, in Ottawa, Kansas.
Karen was the beloved wife of Walter Long, whom she married on December 26, 1979. Together, they shared more than 46 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
She was a deeply loving mother to her two children, Eric Long and Katie Long, and a proud and devoted grandmother. She is survived by her grandchildren: Joe Lantis (22), Addison Sterba (26), Alexis Long (14), Jameson Havens (7), and Abel Havens (5), all of whom brought her immense joy and were the light of her life.
Karen found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments - tending to her garden, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and, with a bit of humor, enjoying her favorite video poker. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a gift for making people feel at ease, and an ability to turn strangers into friends wherever she went.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the deep, unconditional love she gave so freely. Her presence made life brighter, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved her.
No formal services are scheduled at this time. Close family and friends will be informed of a backyard cookout at her home - a gathering that would have made Karen so very happy, bringing everyone together just as she loved.
