Katrice "Tae" La'Nae
Williams
August 27, 1993 – March 22, 2026
Katrice La’Nae Williams (Treecy) was born on August 27, 1993, in Kansas City, Kansas, to her parents, Katrenia Coppage and Frederick Williams. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Lucille Griffin. Although many grew up calling Katrice “Treecy,” she later went by “Tae,” a name that held special meaning, “Tryna Accomplish Everything.” Tae was definitely a go-getter and lived out that meaning in her everyday life.
Katrice accepted Christ at an early age followed by baptism at The Rising Star Baptist Church of Kansas City, Kansas. There she developed a strong faith that remained the foundation of her life. She joyfully sang in the youth choir and was an “original member” of the “Sassy Girls” mentoring group. Additionally, Katrice was raised in the nurture and admonition of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Like many, Katrice faced life’s challenges and struggles, yet through it all, she always knew the Lord and trusted His plan for her life. As she grew in her spiritual journey, she embraced the calling on her life and later “rededicated” her life to Christ on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Rising Star Baptist Church with renewed passion and purpose. With a servant’s heart and a deep love for worship, Katrice faithfully served God and helped establish the Praise Dance Ministry, where she danced before The Lord and the people of God just as King David of The Holy Bible danced. She used her gifts to glorify God and inspire others through movement and praise.
Katrice received her education through Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (USD 500) and had recently begun employment at Shasta Beverages. However, her passion was to uplift others, and one outlet was through her craft.... She was a talented hairstylist who specialized in braids and locs. Katrice loved helping others feel beautiful and confident, and everyone who left her chair felt more beautiful than when they came.
Katrice had a magnetic personality that drew people to her instantly. She had a special way of making everyone she met feel welcomed, valued, and like family. Her radiant smile could brighten even the darkest day, and her infectious laughter and comedic spirit brought joy to countless hearts. She was a source of encouragement, warmth, and positivity, leaving a lasting impression everywhere she went. This loss of Treecy has left a hole in the hearts of her family, and those who knew and loved her, that can never be filled!!!
Katrice (Treecy) was called home on March 22, 2026, and she leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Katrenia Coppage; father, Frederick A. Williams; one sister, Shampale O. Williams; two brothers, Gregory L. Wells Jr. (Sidnee) of Hopewell, VA; Anthony Wells of Keen Mt., Virginia; two nephews, Kemon D. Clark and Kash Baylis; one niece, Gabrielle K. Wells; dad who raised her, Willie D. “Pops” Lewis; bonus sister, Mykia McGee; two godsons, Kayden Wallace and Kimauri Hunter; one goddaughter, Ariyah Reed; grandparents, Robert E. Coppage Sr., Freda Coppage, John Griffin; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be held April 11, 2026 at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1034 Walker Ave, Kansas City, KS 66104. The visitation will begin at 9:00am, the service will follow at 11:00am.
