IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kettie Allone
Brownwill
January 1, 1938 – February 25, 2026
Kettie Brownwill, of Overland Park, passed away on February 25, 2026, after a brief illness.
Kettie was adventurous and lived an incredibly full life, donning many professional hats, including as a bank teller, real estate agent, and contracts administrator, but her life’s work was as an artist. For anyone who knew her, Kettie was best described as sassy and sometimes contrary, with strong views about life and politics. Her life travels took her from Virginia to DC to Florida to College Station to California to Nebraska (where she earned her art degree from Hastings College), back to Texas, then to Seattle, North Carolina, and, ultimately, to Kansas City, where she resided for the last 25 years. She loved to prepare gourmet meals for others, drinking wine and Corona beer (with lime, of course!), baking delicious cakes and biscuits, gardening, and spending time with her beloved Book Club friends.
Kettie was preceded in death by her parents, W.M. and Lottie; siblings Henry, Garnett, June, Charlie, and Betty; and dear friend and art mentor, Joseph Donaldson (lovingly known by her daughters as “Uncle Joe”). She is survived by daughters Robin (Mike) and Nicol (Eric); grandchildren (to whom she was affectionately known as “Willie”) Aaron (Melissa) and Lauren (Sam); and her many cherished nieces, nephews, and their families.
In her final days, Kettie looked forward to dancing again. Of the most memorable “Kettie-isms,” she often reminded her friends and family of her motto that, “Age is just a number. Mine is unlisted.” She giggled as her son-in-law read her 101 Aggie jokes during vigil. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to City Union Mission or to the Disabled American Veterans.
