Larry Sylvester Coleman Sr was born on April 13, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Kenneth Coleman and Nadeane Brown.

Larry attended the Kansas City Public School District and later participated in the JROTC program at Southeast High School, where he developed discipline and leadership skills.

After high school, he continued into adulthood with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility.

Larry was a dedicated worker who spent over 10 years employed with Twin City Security as a security guard. He later continued his career with Rockwell Security, where he worked faithfully until his passing.

Larry was first united in holy matrimony to Sheila Tucker, and from this union three children were born. He was later united in holy matrimony to Bertha Coleman, and from this union one child was born. Larry was also blessed with additional children from other cherished relationships.

Larry was known for his strength, quiet wisdom, and deep love for his family. He had a passion for cars and took great pride in washing and polishing them. He also enjoyed watching football, with the Kansas City Chiefs being his favorite team. He loved listening to music and cherished spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Larry departed this life on March 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Coleman; his mother, Nadeane Brown; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his siblings, Bonita Brown and Carol Clayborn; his daughter, Lisa Coleman; his sons, Tristan Jeffery, Shane Lockridge, and Jerry Jeffery; and his grandson, Ardell Hooker.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Lorita Brown, Brittany Jeffery, Larry Coleman Jr. (Maria Coleman), Terry Coleman (Emisha Coleman), Tony Coleman, Omar McLeod, Brandon Jeffery (Summer Wheat), Joshua Jeffery, Lisa Dolphin (Tony Dolphin), Deana Douglas (Larry Douglas), William Baker, Shalese Baker, Latosha Jeffery, Jauron Jeffery, and Verge Jeffery.

He also leaves to cherish his memory the mothers of his children; his father, Kenneth Coleman (Martha Coleman); his siblings, Cheryle West, Terry Clayborn, Rosemary Bledsoe, Glenda Diaz, Rhonda Clayborn, Eric Coleman and Quinton Coleman; his dear friend Marian Douglas; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly knew him as “Paw Paw,” along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Service will be held Monday March 30, 2026 at Golden Gate Funeral and Cremation Services, LLC, 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City, Mo. 64127. The visitation will begin at 10am-11am.The service will follow at 11am.
