Laurence “Doc” Snyder
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurence “Doc” Snyder, age 62, on March 19, 2025. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by those who loved him.
Doc was a talented artist who attended the Kansas City Art Institute and was widely known for his exceptional skills as a screen printer and modeler. He had a deep love for music, with The Rolling Stones being his favorite band—their iconic red tongue and lips logo could be found throughout his building. He also had a fascination with octopuses, best represented by the popular mural on the exterior of his building.
For over thirty years, Doc poured his heart into building his business, Doc’s Caboose, which combined his passion for modeling and screen printing. His building also became a haven for local creativity, housing several studio spaces and a popular art gallery, offering opportunities and inspiration for many young artists.
Doc is preceded in death by his parents, J. Kent and Margaret Snyder, and his sister, Kathi Schoene. He is survived by his brothers, Edwin Snyder (Cindy) and Thomas Snyder (Stephanie); his sister, Nancy Neal (Ron); and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the love of his life, Jennifer Lee, his beloved cat, Oreo, and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, as a come-and-go BBQ from 11 AM to 3 PM on the 2nd Floor of 1400 Union Avenue, Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kansas City Artists Coalition, 3200 Gillham Rd, Kansas City, MO 64109, or online at kansascityartistscoalition.org.
