Linda Dale Snyder

Linda Dale Snyder (Carter), 77 of Smithville, MO passed away at her home on April 19, 2025.

Born September 01, 1947 in Altadena, California to Alfred Carter and Dorothy Thomas. Her father was a carpenter and her mother was a housewife. She had many stories to tell from her childhood, growing up exploring wilderness areas, while her father built the very houses that make up neighborhoods in several areas of southern California today.

Linda was a housewife for most of her life, and raising her children, being there for them, was her life’s passion. She would spend winters knitting, crocheting or planning quilts, items she would then gift to family members, or to those in need. She loved genealogy, the hunt for new family relatives and historical records, and her work played a part in the 1995 Jesse James “Big Dig” in Kearney. In her later years, she enjoyed venturing out virtually on a computer app called Second Life. It allowed her to visit friends worldwide without having to leave home.

Linda is survived by her husband Terry Snyder, brother Jim Carter, sister Susan (Carter) Deming, sons Jason Cortright, Mike Cortright, daughters Jennifer Campana (Cortright), Heather Underwood (Shulver), and Katherine Snyder. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Dorothy Carter, her brother Dickie Carter, and daughter Crystal Carter.

Linda was a deeply private person, and did not wish to have a service. In lieu of flowers, she requested that any donations be made to local butterfly gardens for the work that they do. She was deeply loved, and will be forever missed.
