Louis Wesley Garrett, 76, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on October 27, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, Louis spent his life deeply rooted in the community that shaped him. Louis was the beloved son of Marvin and Elnora Garrett, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother, Carl E. Garrett.

He is survived by his daughters, Serina Bass-Glenn (Ken Glenn) of Rifton, New York, and Nneka Newman (D.J. Newman) of Dallas, Texas; his brothers Marvin D. Garrett (Leona) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Pastor William A. Garrett (Sharon) of Inglewood, California; his granddaughter Danae Bass-Moss of Rifton, New York; and his aunt Katherine Robinson of Kansas City, Missouri. Louis also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children who will cherish his memory.

Louis will be remembered as a man of great warmth who greeted everyone with a kind and welcoming smile. He was a man who embraced his family and had a profound, lifelong passion for music. May the memory of Louis Wesley Garrett bring comfort to all who were touched by his kindness and love. 

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
