Luther James Edwards (Jimmy) passed away on August 8, 2026, in Independence, Missouri.  Jimmy was a quiet and laid-back man who had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a way of making people close to him laugh. He was never one to seek the spotlight, but those who knew him will remember the stories he told, the jokes he shared, and the many moments of laughter spent with family. Jimmy had a gift for connecting with people he loved through humor and stories from his past, leaving behind memories that will be treasured for years to come. 

For many years, Jimmy worked alongside his brother-in-law at Shier's Family Tree Care Service. He spent his days climbing trees, working hard, and helping wherever he was needed. When his nephew took over the business, Jimmy continued working alongside him. His dedication to his family and willingness to always lend a hand reflected the loyalty he carried throughout his life. Jimmy found enjoyment in the simple things and had a naturally curious and creative spirit. He loved carving and whittling wood, playing video games, reading, and getting lost in stories of fiction and history, whether he was creating something with his hands or exploring another world through a book or game. Jimmy enjoyed discovering things in his own quiet and thoughtful way. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Karen Edwards, and his seven nieces and nephews: Katie Shrader, Ruth Edwards, Alex Shier, Elliot Shier, Ruby Shier, Hannah Shier, and Emmett Shier. 

Jimmy may have lived a quiet life, but his presence meant so much to the people who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his humor, his stories, his creativity, his loyalty to family, and countless little moments that made him who he was. The laughter he shared, the stories he told, and the memories he created will remain with his family long after he is gone. Though he may no longer be here to share another joke or tell another story, the moments he gave those around him will continue to be a part of their lives.
