Obituary

Lynn Arthur “Smokey” Hercules, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Lynn worked for BNSF Railway for 37 years, serving proudly as a bridge tender for the Armour-Swift-Burlington (ASB) and Hannibal bridges.

His steady hand and sharp eye kept operations running safely, and he earned the respect of colleagues for his dedication and dry wit. He was an avid fisherman, a talented cook, and a loyal fan of Kansas City sports. Known for his well-timed sarcasm and unforgettable storytelling, Lynn brought warmth and humor to every gathering .

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hercules; his son, Nicolas Clark, and daughter-in-law, Sydnie Clark; siblings, Suzy and Charlie; and many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Louise, and siblings Linda, Louis, and Carla. A celebration of life will be held at Paul & Jack’s Tavern in North Kansas City on Thursday, December 11 at 4 p.m. Friends and family are invited to share memories and honor Lynn’s legacy.
