Major J. Williams Jr.

Major J. Williams Jr, the fifth child of ten, was born to Major J. Williams Sr. and Lenora E. McCraney on October 16, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. Growing up in Kansas City, Major went to St. Vincents and later Bishop
Sacrament, graduated from Lincoln High School and attended RockHurst University. Major spent his time as a youth as an athlete, playing basketball with his brothers and becoming a track star in school. Despite suffering a life- changing stroke in ‘89, that didn’t stop him from being a fighter and living his life. Three years ago, he was extremely proud to have received the My
Brother’s Keeper award. Major was well known in his community from his work at Leon’s Grocery
Store as a young man and later at Harold Pener. Harold Pener is where he got into fashion and assisted many men in Kansas City with their own unique styles. Major enjoyed life and was often the life of the party with his big smile and caring heart. He cherished every moment with his friends and family. He treasured relationships and his community so much that there was not
a place in Kansas City he could go without being stopped by someone for a quick hug or small talk to catch up. His many passions included racing cars, the drag strip, worshiping the Lord and his love of music. He often would hit a James Brown move while listening to albums for hours on end.

Major met and later married Lee Raye of Kansas City, Missouri and helped her raise June and Jeff Gilkey. Major had four children of his own; Tamara Lockheart (Diane Cunningham.), Major J. Williams III (Michelle Timberlake Berry), Dominique L Williams (Connie Myers) and Trey Major Williams (Linda Dibble). Being the patriarch of a blended family, Major instilled in his children core family values rooted in equality, religion and love.

On November 26, 2022 Major was called home by the Lord. His sister Jackie Williams, his parents Major J. Williams Sr. and Lenora E Williams, his 2 brothers Gordon Williams and Daniel Williams, and two grandchildren
Dontez James and Demarco Carter preceded him in death.

Major leaves behind a loving, grieving family, including his spouse Lee Williams, his siblings Johnny Williams, Micheal J Williams, Angela Williams, Timothy Williams, Patrick Williams and Lenora Williams, His children, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchild, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
