Malachi E. Washington, affectionately known as “Man Man,” of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the age of 17.Born on September 11, 2007, to Bertha Hampton and Robert E. Washington, Malachi brought light, laughter, and love into the world from the moment he arrived with a warm smile, a kind heart, and a spirited personality, he touched the lives of everyone around him. He attended Holiday Montessori Elementary and later Paseo Academy. He was a junior at Central High School, where he continued to pursue both academic excellence and athletic achievement.
Malachi was a dedicated student and a talented athlete with a deep passion for basketball and football. He dreamed big, aimed high, and carried within him a future full of promise. Malachi was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Evonne Smalls Cruz.
He is survived by his loving mother, Bertha Hampton, and his father, Robert E. Washington (Briana). He is also lovingly remembered by his maternal grandparents, Lacey Rowell (Kay Betts) and Alvita Hampton, Malachi leaves behind a large and loving family of siblings: Amariyah Barber, Robert Washington-Arrington (Danielle), Shampel Washington, Daveon Washington, Tytanna King-Washington, Marquan Washington, Rayshawn Washington, Alayna Washington, Jeremiah Washington and Aaliyah Washington.
He is also survived by his three stepbrothers Londen, Zaire, and Phoenix—as well as his best friends, JaQuan and Jayla. Malachi will also be deeply missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.Malachi’s light shine brightly, and his presence left an unforgettable impression on all who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, his spirit, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 6, 2025, visitation will be held from 9 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Greater Works Family Worship Center 5902 Bannister Rd. Kansas City, Mo 64134.
Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery
