Margaret Louise Martinez (nee Minnick) “Maggie” (77) left this earth peacefully and went home to the Lord on September 29, 2026, under the care of Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. Maggie was born on August 5, 1949, in Lock Springs, Missouri, the first of 4 children born to Carl Wallace and Myrtle Ada Minnick (nee Perry). Maggie graduated from Chillicothe, Missouri High School in 1967 and attended Draughon’s College of Commerce in Kansas City, Missouri. Maggie worked in insurance for many years. Maggie was married to Sam Martinez in Kansas City, Kansas, where they adopted Katherine (Kay), the child of a teenage unwed mother. Sam and Maggie divorced, and Maggie tried to be a good mother to Kay and grandmother to Kay’s daughter, Lalani, who lives in Houston, Texas. In addition to her daughter and granddaughter, Maggie is survived by her Brother David Minnick (wife Nancy) of Wildwood, Missouri; nephew Charles David Minnick (wife Megan) and great-niece Elizabeth Mae Minnick of Olivette, Missouri; niece Caroline Ann Minnick of St. Petersburg, Florida; and sister Gloria Minnick of Kansas City, Missouri. Maggie’s parents, grandparents, and sister Catherine Ann Minnick died earlier. At her request, Maggie was cremated, and her ashes will be placed privately in places she loved by people she loved. No public services are planned. Maggie will be remembered by friends and family as a kind soul who loved her Lord.
