July 24, 1954 – August 3, 2026
Marilyn Jean Walker, 72, a lifelong resident of Kansas City, passed away on August 3, 2026.
Marilyn was born on July 24, 1954, to Oral and Gertrude Elaine Looney. She was born and raised in Kansas City and called it home throughout her entire life.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Gertrude Elaine Looney; her sister Brenda; her brother Larry; her beloved husband, Mark Walker, who passed away from ALS in 2006; and her son, Jeremy, who passed away in 2011. She carried the loss of those she loved while continuing to pour her heart into the family around her.
More than anything, Marilyn lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she loved them fiercely. She is survived by her children, Dennis, Justin, and Rachael, and her grandchildren, Christina, Joshua, Madisyn, and Mason, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.
Marilyn also adored her nieces and nephews and treasured the relationships she shared with them. Family meant everything to her, whether by blood or by the bonds built through years of love.
She was an incredibly giving person with a generous heart. Marilyn found happiness in taking care of the people she loved and was always willing to give to others. Her generosity and the love she showed her family will be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Marilyn also had a special love for her plants and her animals. She loved caring for her plants and was devoted to her two dogs and her cats, who were very much members of her family and brought her tremendous companionship and joy.
Marilyn’s life was defined not by the things she had, but by the people and animals she loved and cared for. Her greatest legacy will always be her family and the love she gave so freely to them.
Her family will miss her more than words can adequately express. While her absence leaves an enormous space in our lives, we will continue to carry her with us—in our memories, in the stories we tell, and in the love she gave us throughout her life.
There will not be a traditional funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather together to remember Marilyn, share stories, and celebrate a woman who was deeply loved.
Marilyn Jean Walker will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be a part of the family she treasured so dearly. Marilyn Walker(Looney), 72, of Platte City, passed away on August 3, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1954, to Oral and Gertrude Looney.
