Marjorie Evelyn
Therio
February 6, 1950 – November 20, 2025
Marjorie Evelyn Wayne Therio passed away at her Kansas City home on November 20, 2025, at the age of 75. She was born at St. Luke’s Hospital to Frances Cheshire Wayne and John Edward Wayne. From a young age, Marge loved creative arts, cats, and gardening, and she left her distinctive mark on several homes throughout the Kansas City area.
A 1968 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School, Marge studied liberal arts at the University of Kansas. After living in Phoenix for several years, she returned to Kansas City to earn her nursing credentials at Johnson County Community College. As a certified RN Oncology Specialist, she provided decades of compassionate care at the St. Luke’s Cancer Institute and most recently retired from the University of Kansas Medical Center Pain Management System.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Margarine” or “Aunt Oleo” by her oldest nephews, Marge is survived by her brother, Tony Wayne (Kitty Wayne); sisters, Melissa Wayne (Michael Herzmark), Mary Jane Ecton, and Cris Siebenlist (Glenn Newman); five nephews; two nieces; and multiple great-nephews and great-nieces. She especially cherished their antics, including a memorable trip to Fritz’s for a Gen Dare burger with fries and the traditional train hat last summer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Kimberly Todd Weaver; her husband, Bruce Robinson; her stepfather, George F. Todd, Jr.; and her nephew, John Michael Wayne.
Marge was fiercely independent. After dedicating her workweek to caring for others, she found joy in the company of her beloved cats and peace in tending her garden.
A celebration of Marge’s life will be held when the spring blossoms return. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends contributions to The Humane Society, Cats Pawjamas, or Kansas City Cancer Action.
