Mary Willie (Lane) Haskin, born on June 15th, 1940, in Lenapah, Oklahoma, to Ella Lee Lane and David William Lane, relocated to Kansas City at age four and attended the Kansas City, KS public school system. She participated in choir and joined the Future Teachers of Tomorrow. Mary graduated from Sumner High School in 1958. After dedicating over three decades to the federal government, she worked in the Social Security Administration in Kansas City, Missouri, before retiring in 1998 to care for her twin granddaughters. She later worked as a library assistant at HazelGrove Elementary School. After her daughter Sherry Lane’s passing in1991, Mary also helped raise her grandson DaJuan and later helped care for her great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was evident through words and selfless acts of service. Mary’s faith guided her life. She worshipped at King Solomon Baptist Church, later Macedonian Missionary Baptist Church, and in her later years, City Central Church in Lenexa, KS. Mary, blessed with two daughters, Sherry Lane and Sherry Brockman, was reunited with her daughter Sherry Brockman after 59 years in 2019, along with her grandson Charles Brockman III and son-in-love Charles Brockman II. Despite her shyness, Mary expressed immense gratitude for their presence. She cherished every moment they spent together until her health failed her. She was preceded in death by her parents; Her siblings, William Lane, Mabel Tucker, and Leona Jones; her husband Howard Haskin; and her daughter Sherry Lane. Mary peacefully passed away on July 9th, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind cherished memories, including her daughter Sherry Brockman (Charles), grandchildren DaJuan Cooper, StacyThomas, Tracy Thomas, and Charles Brockman III, and great grandchildrenMonica Cooper, Shelby Smith, Brooklynn Thomas, Tajh Gatson, and NeoGatson. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, along with countless friends touched by her love.

A service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation LLC, 2800 East 18th Street, KCMO 64127. The visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 pm, with the service to follow promptly at 3:00 pm.
