Mary Alice Levels was born on October 9, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Lovuna Booth and Porter Dunlap. Later, she was lovingly adopted and raised by Fred and Mildred White, whose love, guidance, and support helped shape the remarkable woman she became.Mary later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she built a life centered around family, friendship, hard work, and love.Mary dedicated many years of service to the Kansas City School District, where she worked in transportation and janitorial services. Through her dedication, dependability, and caring nature, she positively impacted the lives of many students, families, and coworkers. After years of faithful service, she retired in 2014.Mary was married and divorced from Nathaniel Jones, then Later, she married Walter Levels And from that union was blessed with her beloved daughter, Victoria Levels and proudly carried the Levels name throughout the remainder of her life.Mary was a woman whose presence could light up any room. Anyone who knew her knew she was the spark wherever she went. She was truly the life of the party, with a smile that was contagious, laughter that was unforgettable, and a spirit that brought joy to everyone around her.Mary loved listening to the blues, traveling, spending time at the bootleg house, enjoying a cold Miller Lite beer or a good glass of tequila, and surrounding herself with family and friends. She enjoyed makeup, beautiful jewelry, and shopping at Bath & Body Works. She loved looking good, feeling good, and making those around her feel special.Mary was known for her famous dressing and deviled eggs, which became staples at family gatherings and celebrations. Nothing made her happier than bringing people together around the table with food, laughter, and love. She never met a stranger and never wanted anyone to leave her home hungry.Her grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in being a loving grandmother. Whether offering encouragement, sharing stories, preparing a meal, or simply spending time together, Mary made each grandchild feel special and loved.Mary also shared a special bond with Eddie Collins, the love of her life. Their relationship was filled with love, companionship, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured.Mary Alice Levels departed this life on May 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength, and generosity.She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Victoria Levels, the love of her life, Eddie Collins, her cherished grandchildren, Adrian Haliburton (Melissa Haliburton), Myeasha Stewart (Quinton Stewart), Dequan Stevens, Deon’Drasha Cullors, Diera Cullors, Juron, Jaron, Martez, and Vondell Levels, her brothers, Edward,LeRoy “Red”, Tyree, Samuel , her sisters, Josephine,Jenny, Shirley and Lou Cindy along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren, other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by her warmth, generosity, and love.Though Mary is no longer with us in body, the love she shared, the meals she prepared, the laughter she brought, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.Her laughter was contagious, her love was endless, and her light will never fade.
A service will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2026 at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services LLC 2800 E. 18th Street KCMO 64127. The visitation will begin at 10:00-11:00 am , with the service to follow promptly at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place following the service at XII Gate Memorial Gardens 9500 E. Bannister Rd. KCMO 64138
